The SW-709B Laser Edge Banding Polyester Swab is a high-temperature resistant knitted polyester swab engineered specifically for the maintenance and cleaning workflows of laser edge banding machines used in furniture manufacturing and panel processing. Laser edge banding is an adhesive-free bonding process in which a diode or CO₂ laser melts a functional polymer layer on the reverse of a thermoplastic edge band — typically PP or ABS — to create a seamless, zero-glue-line bond with the substrate panel. The cleaning requirements this process generates are fundamentally different from those of conventional hot-melt edge banding: instead of adhesive residue and glue pot deposits, technicians contend with vaporized polymer smoke, carbonized polymer debris at the laser focal zone, and thermally-stressed band material that deposits on laser optics, pressure roller surfaces, and machine channel walls during production runs.

The swab head measures 12mm in length, 4.4mm in width, and 1.5mm in thickness. The polyester fiber construction is selected over foam specifically for its thermal resistance: standard polyurethane foam degrades, softens, and fragments at the surface temperatures generated near laser focal zones and freshly-bonded edge band material, which can reach 150–200°C at the contact line. The polyester fiber maintains structural integrity and cleaning performance at these temperatures without melting, depositing polymer residue, or fragmenting onto the cleaned machine surface.

The polyester head fits tightly to the edge banding strip edge profile during cleaning, ensuring effective debris removal along the band edge without leaving polyester fiber residue that could embed in the functional polymer layer. The wear resistance and tear resistance of the high-strength polyester fiber allow the swab to withstand the mechanical friction of cleaning inside machine channels and around roller assemblies without head degradation.
