The head geometry — 18.8mm in length, 5.8mm in width, and 4.5mm in thickness — is the thickest polyester head in this entire product series: the 4.5mm thickness provides significantly more fiber volume than the 2.8mm heads found on most polyester swabs, increasing the total fiber mass in contact with the substrate per wiping pass and raising the liquid absorption capacity per swab before saturation. This makes the SW-858B suited to cleaning tasks involving heavier residue loads or larger solvent volumes than a standard 2.8mm thin-head polyester swab can handle in a single pass.

The thick polyester fiber body maintains its cross-sectional profile under the lateral compression force applied during scrubbing, preventing the head collapse that thinner polyester heads can experience when pressed firmly against rough or textured substrate surfaces.
