Where the SW-864C uses a thin 2mm foam profile for flat-surface wiping, the SW-864D's significantly deeper head geometry stores more liquid and particle matter per cleaning pass and conforms more completely to non-flat surface features such as component lead patterns, surface-mount device profiles, and optical housing contours.

The swab head measures 26mm in length, 12mm in width, and 9mm in thickness.
