The SW-857D is a dust-free long-reach sponge swab with a high-volume open-cell polyurethane foam head mounted on an extended polypropylene handle, engineered for deep-cavity cleaning tasks in sponge-swab applications where both high liquid absorption capacity and extended reach are required simultaneously. This is the sponge-series counterpart to deep-reach foam designs, combining the thicker, higher-volume foam head geometry with the 160mm handle length needed to access cleaning targets located well inside equipment housings, instrument channels, and assembly interiors.

The swab head measures 17mm in length, 6.8mm in width, and 5.0mm in thickness. The 5.0mm thickness is the largest foam head depth in the entire sponge-swab series — significantly greater than the 2.8mm profile of the SW-847D or the standard foam swabs in this line. This extra foam volume directly increases liquid holding capacity per swab: the thicker head retains more cleaning solvent, ink residue, or lubricant during a single deep-reach cleaning pass, reducing the number of swab insertions required to clear residue from an enclosed cavity. The foam structure maintains its cross-sectional shape during insertion into narrow channels, providing consistent side-wall contact pressure throughout the cleaning stroke.

Extended Handle & Deep-Cavity Performance

The 160mm polypropylene handle with 3.2mm width and thickness is rigid enough to transmit controlled axial and lateral wiping force to the foam head at full insertion depth without buckling — a mechanical requirement that shorter handles cannot satisfy in deep-cavity applications. The handle length provides operator hand clearance from the cavity opening, which is relevant both for contamination control (preventing gloved hand contact with the cleaning zone) and for operator ergonomics in repetitive production-line maintenance tasks.

The open-cell foam is lint-free, generating no fiber particles inside the cleaned cavity during use.
